My Grandmother always told me "Alexis you need to grow up pretty so you can find a good husband to take care of you." I do love my Grandmother very much as she brought me up after my parents died when I was a child. She was an old fashioned woman who was set in her ways and when I talked about my dreams of becoming a chef, doctor or even an astronaut she thought I was crazy. She constantly told me that I needed to learn my place and become a good housewife for some man. I don't blame her as that is the way she grew up but I don't plan to live my life that way. My plan is to live out every one of my dreams and become every woman I want to be.
As soon as I became a young adult I moved into my own house. It wasn't much but it was comfortable and affordable. The first night I was there I wrote all my dreams down and placed them in a hat. I picked out one of them randomly and I knew exactly what I was going to do.
How Ironic that this would be the first dream I would pick randomly. I really didn't want to get married so I guess I would be doing the single Mom thing. Oh boy Grandma is not going to like this but I made rules for myself and I decided I would stick to them.
The first thing I needed to do is find a man after all I can't get pregnant all by myself. Luckily finding a man to agree to sleeping with you isn't a difficult task at all. I met a man by the name of Akira Kibo and he asked me out on a date.
It was only our first date and he was all over me. When he brought me home he was very willing when I invited him into my house.......
and into my bed.
When the pregnancy test came back positive I thought I would be happy but it was than that I realized exactly what I had done. I wanted this baby and planned for it but I wasn't the only one who was becoming a parent. I basically made a decision for Akira that would affect his whole life. I knew I needed to confess the whole truth to him.
Akira wasn't angry at all but he wasn't ready to become a full time father either. He said he would like to know the child and that he would help out as much as he could which wouldn't be much. Basically I was on my own and that was fine with me. That was exactly the way I wanted it anyway.
I spent most of my pregnancy relaxing at home and gardening. I have heard that dragon fruit sells for good money and can basically pay all your bills so I started working on that. I'll get myself a job later but right now I want to concentrate on creating my big happy family.
The big day arrived and Akira did show up when I called to tell him I was in labor. However the poor guy was in panic mode.
We thought it best for him to stay in the waiting room while I checked myself in and had the baby. I didn't need that nervous wreck of a man beside me while I was the one going through the labor pains.
After 18 hours of labor my little boy arrived. I named him Sebastian and he became my whole world.
I brought him home fed him, comforted him when he cried and
changed him when he wet his diaper.
Taking care of a baby was not easy and sometimes I was so tired that I fell asleep in the oddest places.
Before I knew it my boy had jumped out of his bassinet and started walking around.
I gave him a bath (or shall I say he gave me a bath)
changed his clothes and fixed up his hair so that he could look like the little darling that he really was.
When he got tired he would sometimes take a tantrum or
have a nightmare at night.
However in the morning we would have breakfast together....
And he even learned how to steal my BLT's right off the counter.
Most of the time he was inquisitive, cute and lovable.
Author's Note-As of now Alexis is on her second milestone of the Big Happy Family Aspiration and Sebastian's toddler trait is inquistive.
Woot! Love the name. She's out of the gate and off to the races. Congrats on Sebastian. He's a cutie. Looking forward to seeing how she does in her first challenge of life.
ReplyDeleteWoo! What a start!
ReplyDeleteAlexis sure didn't waste any time and Sebastian is super cute! Also, I didn't know you could the toddlers a bath. Precious.
I like how you're doing that aspiration without a partner first. I usually see it the other way around. It's refreshing. ^^
Many cheers for Alexis on her first challenge! -throws confetti-
Great beginning! I love how you're telling the story.
ReplyDeleteDid you really pick an aspiration out of a hat? ;-)
